I posted about my new cookbook last month on our adoption blog, but since some of you might not read our adoption blog, I wanted to tell you about it here.
Ten years ago I started typing up my childhood recipes plus all the recipes I had tried and liked as a wife and mother. I was doing this for my little sister who was getting married. What I thought would be a small pamphlet of recipes, turned into a pretty fat book. I printed off about 10 copies and gave them out to our family members to enjoy.
Over the years, I have added more and more recipes (by hand) to my original copy. They range from recipes from my mom and both grandmas to my in-laws, casseroles from the early days of my marriage, recipes from scratch from my 2 years living in Singapore, Asian and Indian dishes from living overseas, crock pot recipes from the busy, homeschool mom of many children to more healthy recipes due to much research about nutrition. It's a hodge podge of everything and I'm here to say I have tested and cooked every recipe in this book.
I just worked many hours to complete the second edition to make it available to adoptive families as a fundraiser - for no profit of my own. It costs me $8 to print each one and that is all I ask. You can read about it on our adoption website. There are 150 pages and 316 recipes. Right now my great friend is selling them to help offset the costs of bringing home her baby daughter from China - trip scheduled for May. She purchased 50 books up front and has only been able to sell 32. Would you consider helping her out and going to her adoption blog and buying a cookbook from her?
Not only would you receive tons of great recipes, but you would be helping a precious little girl come home to her forever family. And like I've told her Mama, she will have 2 handsome dark-skinned Fish Sticks available for an arranged marriage when the time is right. :)
And if you have a friend who is adopting or you are adopting, please read my post at Finding All Our Fish Sticks to see how easy it is to raise money by selling my cookbook to help with your adoption costs! Pass it on!
